Hi Sarah, there are alot of plants and shrubs that thrive in shaded areas, too many to list here to be honest, you will mostly have dark leafed evergreen plants but also a good few that flower along with many that provide berries during winter, a good guide is to take a stroll in a forest park and look at what grows in the shade of the larger trees, I hope this helps you somewhat
